Ruger Says He Attended Parties as a Child Without Parental Knowledge
Ruger says he started sneaking into parties before age 10 to dance and enjoy Afrobeats.
The singer, now thriving with his own label, recalls early love for music and bold childhood moves.
Nigerian music star, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has revealed that he began attending parties without permission at a very young age.

The singer shared this during a recent appearance on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan. He admitted that his love for music and dance led him to sneak out when he was just a child.
“I was sneaking out to go to parties to listen to Afrobeats and Dancehal. I was no up to 10 years old then but knew how to dance. So I would just go to parties and shake my body,” he said.
Ruger gained national attention in 2021 with the release of Bounce, a hit track that marked the beginning of his rise in the Nigerian music scene. That same year, he joined Jonzing World and launched his debut extended play (EP) titled Pandemic.
After a few years with the label, Ruger ended his partnership with Jonzing World in 2024, following reported differences with label boss D’Prince. He has since gone on to establish his own music imprint, Blown Boy Entertainment.
