Gospel singer Gaise Baba says he stayed a virgin till marriage despite battling porn addiction.
He shared how faith, personal vows, and loss shaped his path and boosted his music career.
Gospel singer Akinade Ibuoye, widely known as Gaise Baba, has opened up about his personal struggles with addiction and his journey to staying pure before marriage.
In a recent interview with Chude, the music minister shared that although he got married as a virgin, the road wasn’t smooth. He admitted to dealing with addiction to pornography for years, even after deciding to live a life of sexual purity.
“Yes, I married as a virgin. I and my wife. It took more time, sir, before we find the way. I was 15 when I started watching bad things,” Gaise Baba revealed.
He recalled how he once made a commitment to stay sexually pure, a promise he documented and shared with his pastor.
“Now, there’s something you call covenant of purity. Something you come into to say, you’re not going to have s*x, you get married. I just scribble something. I sign it, go to meet the pastor. I’m like, my covenant of purity.”
Despite the covenant, he confessed that he soon got addicted to pornography afterward.
“In fact, it was shortly after that I got addicted to porn. I knew that under the right temperature and pressure any man can fall.”
Gaise Baba also spoke about the moment his music career took a turn for the better. The years 2025, marked a successful turning point for him following his hit song “No Turning Back,” which he featured gospel minister Lawrence Oyor, became a success.
According to him, not long after the death of his mother did his breakthrough in the gospel music industry came.
“This season everybody’s talking about kicked off like two weeks after my mom passed. Fame came at a point that I was no longer looking it,” he said.
