Ice Prince Says He Feels Disrespected Despite Contributions to African Music
Ice Prince says he feels disrespected in the industry despite major milestones in African music.
He shared on a podcast that he doesn’t chase titles or awards, just genuine impact.
Rapper Ice Prince has opened up about how he feels overlooked in the music industry, despite all he has done to elevate Nigerian and African music globally.

During a candid chat on the “Tea With Tay” podcast, the award-winning artist expressed frustration over being disrespected by some of his peers, even after achieving historic milestones in his career.
“The first African artist to go on a BET stage and collect the BET award. Selfless credit here,” he said. “I am one of the only artists probably in the world that left his record label with no drama.”
Host Taymesan brought up other top stars from the Chocolate City label who had controversial exits, including Brymo and M.I. Ice Prince confirmed that drama surrounded most departures, though his was different.
“Pretty much there was drama with everybody. You just hear some drama,” he said.
Ice Prince, also reflected on how he’s often underrated. He added:
“I’ve done so many stuff for Nigeria, for Africa, but people always disrespect or sleep on me. I don’t make music for accolades or for respect. You see all these titles like ‘legend,’ ‘king,’ ‘OG’, I don’t even like them, like at all. You know what I’m saying? So for me, music is beyond the accolades or the awards that come with it.”
