Skales Denies Viral Claim That He Divorced Wife for Mocking His Music Career
Nigerian singer Skales has denied claims that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, for mocking his music career, slamming the viral rumor as “false, evil, and unfair.”
The allegation stemmed from a viral post misquoting him, which Skales has publicly debunked. While speculation about their marriage persists, the artist has chosen to keep personal matters private.
Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, better known by his stage name Skales, has refuted widespread reports claiming he ended his marriage to Precious Hassanity because she mocked his music career.

The rumor originated from a post by an X (formerly Twitter) user, @Verity\_HQ, who alleged that the artist revealed he divorced Precious after she publicly ridiculed him in the comment section of his social media post.
Skales was quoted in the viral post saying,
“I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got angry. People cannot be mocking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying for your bills and you join.”
The post also suggested that Skales criticized her for failing to support his hustle, claiming a woman who doesn’t stand by her man’s work isn’t a good wife. However, Skales has now responded, firmly denying ever making such a statement. Taking to social media, the singer labeled the report as “false, evil, and unfair.”
Skales said, “This is really evil of you, to cook up such story and this is not fair,” he wrote. “I have never made such statement and this is false… Pls stop spreading lies.”
Reports has it that Skales married Precious Hassanity, in September 2021. However, in late 2022, speculation about trouble in their marriage intensified when Skales shared a snippet of an unreleased track, interpreted by many as a diss directed at his wife. In the lyrics, he accused her of being emotionally absent and even hinted she could have done more to help his late mother, Martina Aiyewa, who passed away just weeks earlier.
Following the loss of his mother, Skales also posted a cryptic message on social media, saying, “In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
Though Skales has addressed the latest rumor, the details of his relationship with Precious remain private, with neither party offering further clarification on their current marital status.
