PalmPay, OPay, PiggyVest, Moniepoint, and Interswitch gained recognition for innovation and rapid market growth.
Five Nigerian fintech companies, PalmPay, Moniepoint, OPay, PiggyVest, and Interswitch, have been named among the top 300 global fintech firms in 2025, according to a new report by CNBC in partnership with data analytics firm Statista.
The prestigious list recognizes high-performing fintechs from around the world based on key metrics, including revenue, growth trajectory, and employee count. The final selection was the result of comprehensive desk research by Statista, coupled with editorial oversight from CNBC.
PalmPay, Moniepoint, OPay, and Interswitch were recognized in the Payments category, which includes providers of payment infrastructure, transaction facilitation, and digital wallet services. Piggyvest earned its spot in the Wealth Tech category for its innovative digital savings and investment solutions tailored to the African market.
Despite Nigeria’s rapidly expanding fintech sector with over 200 companies, only four Nigerian firms made the list, and Moniepoint was listed under the UK due to its incorporation there. In comparison, the United States led the global chart with 126 fintech companies, followed by the United Kingdom with 38 and Singapore with 16 top-ranking companies.
PalmPay reacted positively to the news, noting that the recognition reflects its steady growth and expanding impact across Africa. The platform currently boasts over 35 million registered users and facilitates around 15 million transactions daily.
Sofia Zab, Founding Chief Marketing Officer at PalmPay, said,
“To be recognized as one of the world’s top fintech companies by CNBC and Statista is a powerful affirmation of our mission to build a more inclusive financial system. As we scale PalmPay to more emerging markets, including Tanzania and Bangladesh, our focus remains on closing financial access gaps for everyday consumers and businesses.”
Similarly, Tosin Eniolorunda, Group CEO of Moniepoint Inc., described the recognition as a milestone in the company’s global journey.
“It is an honor to be named as one of the world’s top fintech companies by CNBC. Moniepoint’s inclusion in this prestigious, authoritative list is a testament to the hard work and success of the entire team while highlighting our emergence as a key player shaping the future of fintech worldwide.”
