Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola Opens Up on Blocking Nollywood Colleagues Over Fear of Divorce

Opeyemi Aiyeola says fear of failed marriage made her cut off Nollywood colleagues.

The actress reveals she blocked industry contacts for 10 years to protect her home and family.

Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has revealed that she deliberately cut ties with her industry colleagues after getting married, driven by a deep fear of marital failure.

Speaking during a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actress explained that after marrying Olayiwola Abdulwakilu, she moved to the United States and stepped away from acting to prioritize her family life.

“I was off the scene for more than ten years, and I apologized to my fans,” she said. “I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s contact in the industry.”

Aiyeola, a mother of two, admitted that external opinions about entertainers having unstable marriages influenced her decision to withdraw from the spotlight. “Let’s appreciate our lovers because they caused it. Some people say entertainers don’t have stable homes, but they don’t know what really happens behind the scenes,” she said.

“To avoid experiencing such problems, I blocked everyone from the industry for 10 years,” she added.

Now back in Nigeria and fully focused on her career, Aiyeola said she has unblocked her colleagues and is ready to reclaim her space in Nollywood. “I have two boys, and I have sacrificed everything for them. They should now allow me to also carve my own career,” she concluded.
