FCT Minister Wike Accused of Extending Land Allocations to More Family Members Despite Investigation

FCT Minister Wike reportedly expands Abuja land allocations to more relatives amid mounting public criticism.

Despite ongoing probe, new beneficiaries include his father, nephews, cousins, sparking fresh favoritism concerns.

Despite mounting public criticism and an ongoing investigation, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reportedly continued distributing land in Abuja’s prime district to more members of his family and close associates.

On July 4, 2025, Wike held an emergency meeting with senior officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), just a day after a new report exposed alleged favoritism in Abuja land allocations.

Sources familiar with the meeting claim the minister appeared unfazed by the backlash over earlier allocations to his children. Instead, he allegedly ordered planners to speed up the approval process for 38 new beneficiaries most of whom were family members and close allies, some dating back to his teenage years.

“Initially, we thought he was joking. It was hard to believe he’d be that blatant,” an FCTA official reportedly said. “But then he began signing the occupancy rights days later.”

By July 16, 2025 two weeks after the first exposé and while a presidential probe was reportedly underway Wike had approved land allocations for 33 new individuals connected to him personally.

One notable recipient was his 90-year-old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, who received a 1,042-square-metre plot in Guzape II, valued at around N400 million (file number 62783). Others on the list included:

  • Believe Wike (cousin)
  • Victor Wike (nephew)
  • Henry Wike (nephew)
  • Primise Wike (cousin)

These approvals followed an earlier set of six allocations dated April 22, 2025, in the same upscale Guzape II area. Those included:

  • Vincent Ejike Wike – 2,200 sqm (RV62586)
  • Chidi Sam Wike – 2,195 sqm (RV62598)
  • Chituru Wike – 2,158 sqm (RV62599)
  • Christian Ibebulachi Wike – 2,178 sqm (RV62603)
  • Collins Ngeme Wike – 2,813 sqm (RV62604)
  • Emmanuel Okanwene Wike – 2,716 sqm (RV62605)

All recipients were reportedly from Wike’s home state of Rivers, raising further concerns about favoritism and abuse of office.
