Their deaths brought relief to communities previously terrorized by killings and ransom demands.
Troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have successfully taken down three well-known terrorist leaders during a well-planned ambush in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The ambush was carried out recently between Mallamawa and Mazau villages, located within the Tsamaye and Mai Lalle district. The operation specifically targeted three wanted individuals identified as Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar, who had been troubling the area for a long time.
According to sources, the terrorists had entered the area to extort money and collect ransom from local residents when the troops moved in. During the encounter, security personnel recovered three AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the criminals.
The news of their deaths has been met with relief and celebration across several nearby communities, including Tsamaye, Mai Lalle, and Rimaye. Local residents described the men as threats who were responsible for several killings, abductions, and forced payments.
Military authorities noted that further joint operations with other security forces and local vigilante groups are ongoing to completely dislodge terrorist groups from the region. Citizens have also been encouraged to report suspicious movements to support the efforts of the armed forces.
