Peter Obi Accuses Tinubu of Misleading Nigerians with False Economic Data
Peter Obi slams Tinubu over “wrong statistics,” says government is masking Nigeria’s economic hardship.
He accuses presidency of using false data on inflation, GDP, and unemployment to mislead citizens.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of failing to deliver on campaign promises and misleading the nation with inaccurate economic statistics.
In a statement shared on his verified social media platform, Obi condemned the Tinubu administration’s use of what he described as “wrong statistics,” including questionable unemployment and inflation data, as well as a controversial GDP rebasing. He alleged that these figures were being manipulated to paint a falsely optimistic picture of Nigeria’s deteriorating economic reality.
Obi recalled Tinubu’s 2022 campaign appearance in Delta State, where the then-presidential candidate dismissed statistical analysis, saying he was more focused on “putting food on the table” for Nigerians. “Now, nearly halfway through his tenure, Nigeria ranks among the hungriest nations globally, with millions uncertain of their next meal,” Obi remarked.
He stated, “President Tinubu is now overfeeding Nigerians with wrong statistics from wrong unemployment figures, wrong inflation figures, and now GDP rebasing, all to put a positive spin on our deteriorating economic and household conditions.”
The former Governor of Anambra State emphasized that good governance should be rooted in competence, integrity, and compassion. “Governance is not rocket science or a gamble. It requires sincerity of purpose, character, competence, capacity, and compassion,” he added.

The government has not formally responded to Obi’s allegations, although it continues to defend its economic reform agenda, which includes forex liberalization, the removal of fuel subsidies, and efforts to attract foreign investment.
But Obi will tell lies about what he can never achieve in 100 years. Obi is a fake person. Na John at mouth. He can never become President of Nigeria. He is only dreaming.
