The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, Augustina Mowari, for allegedly killing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, during a domestic argument in Okitipupa.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area, after the couple had an argument over suspected infidelity. During the altercation, Augustina allegedly stabbed Michael in the leg with a pair of scissors.
Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest on Monday, stating that the suspect is currently in custody. “There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with scissors. He later died in the hospital,” Ayanlade said. He added that an investigation is underway and the case will be charged to court upon conclusion.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the couple had been living together in a one-room apartment and had been having ongoing issues related to trust. The source said the fight turned violent after Augustina confronted Michael with accusations of cheating.
“During the argument, she stabbed him in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital and discharged after initial treatment,” the source said.
However, Michael’s condition reportedly worsened at home as his leg became swollen. He was rushed back to the hospital later that night but sadly died despite efforts by medical staff to save him.
