President Tinubu has honored the Super Falcons with $100,000, national awards, and houses after their WAFCON win.
He hailed their victory as a symbol of courage and national pride during a celebration at the Villa.
President Bola Tinubu has honoured the Super Falcons with national awards, cash gifts, and housing for their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Each player was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), a cash prize of $100,000, and a three-bedroom house. This gesture followed their remarkable win in the WAFCON final held in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday.
During a reception held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu praised the team for their dedication and historic performance.
“Today, you return home as champions of Africa. We could not be prouder,” he said. “Your victory is not just about sport. It shows courage, discipline, and consistency.”
He also announced that each member of the technical team will receive $50,000 as a token of appreciation for their support throughout the tournament.
In addition to the federal government’s reward, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) pledged N10 million for each player.
The President recalled watching the tense final match and shared how emotional the moment was for him and the nation.
“When it was 2-0, I became restless,” he said. “But after the penalty that brought it to 2-1, my spirit and that of the nation were lifted.”
He described the victory as a proud moment for all Nigerians and thanked the team for making history by winning the tournament for the tenth time.
