Tinubu Swears In Nnanna Kalu as NASC Commissioner for South-East
President Tinubu swears in Nnanna Kalu as South-East commissioner on National Assembly Service Commission.
The appointment ends regional gap after Senate cleared Kalu of earlier petition-related concerns.
President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu as a commissioner representing the South-East geopolitical zone on the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

The ceremony was held at the State House in Abuja shortly before the start of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Kalu’s confirmation had been previously delayed due to a petition, but the Senate eventually approved his nomination after a thorough review. The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions found no disqualifying evidence against him. Subsequently, the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, chaired by Senator Cyril Fasuyi, recommended his confirmation.
President Tinubu had earlier, in May, sworn in Saviour Enyiekere as NASC Chairman along with other commissioners. Kalu’s swearing-in marks the inclusion of South-East representation on the commission, addressing a gap that had existed for some time.
During the council meeting, members observed a minute of silence in honour of Caleb Olubolade, a former minister who served in various roles including Minister of Special Duties and Minister of State for the FCT under former President Goodluck Jonathan. Olubolade reportedly collapsed while playing lawn tennis.
His passing was formally announced to the council by Emanso Umobong Okop, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, who represented the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The FEC meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and several federal ministers.
