A three-storey building in Abuja’s Lifecamp area collapsed, trapping a man beneath debris.
Rescuers worked overnight and eventually pulled the lone victim out alive by Sunday morning.
A three-storey building in the Lifecamp area of Abuja collapsed on Saturday evening, leaving one person trapped under the debris for several hours before being rescued.

The incident happened around 6:00 pm on August 2, according to the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh. She confirmed that emergency responders and security operatives swiftly moved to the scene once they received the alert.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Aliyu Salisu from Niger Republic, was the only person trapped under the rubble. He was pulled out alive in the early hours of Sunday after nearly ten hours of intense rescue efforts.
“Rescue teams successfully extricated Aliyu Salisu… the lone victim who had remained trapped in the rubble for close to ten hours,” Adeh said in a statement.

He was immediately taken to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu, where he is currently receiving treatment and showing signs of recovery.
The police said the Divisional Police Officer from Lifecamp Division led the first team to the site, securing the area and coordinating the response. They were joined by personnel from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Development Control Department, and private construction firms including Zeberced and Julius Berger.
The Commissioner of Police, Ajao S. Adewale, who personally visited the site, praised the teamwork among the agencies and appreciated the role played by community members during the rescue.
Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the collapse as investigations continue.
