A UK-based Nigerian man has reportedly divorced his wife and returned her to Nigeria over alleged abuse.
He claimed she mocked his caregiving job, threatened police action, and refused to work or support him.
A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom has reportedly ended his marriage and returned his wife to Nigeria following months of alleged domestic turmoil.
According to a widely shared account online, the man, who is employed as a caregiver in the UK, had travelled to Nigeria to marry his wife both traditionally and legally. He then brought her over to the UK to start their life together. However, the relationship reportedly began to deteriorate not long after her arrival.
The woman allegedly belittled her husband’s profession, referring to his caregiving job as “dirty care work.” Reports also claim she frequently threatened to involve the police over trivial disagreements. In addition to verbal abuse, she was said to have physically attacked him on several occasions, all while not contributing financially or seeking employment.
Despite raising concerns with her family members, the man said no improvements followed. Tired of the alleged abuse, he ultimately filed for divorce, removed her from his Certificate of Sponsorship, and notified appropriate authorities about the situation.
