Four Arrested Over Missing Newborn at Ekiti Health Centre
Police in Ekiti State have arrested four suspects over the alleged abduction of a newborn at a health centre.
The baby, born Sunday night, was found missing the next morning, prompting a full investigation by SCID.
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with the alleged abduction of a newborn baby at a health center in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, threw the facility into confusion after staff discovered that a baby born the previous evening had vanished.
According to a source at the center, the alarm was raised when nurses on duty attempted to attend to the newborn but found the child missing.
“The baby was delivered on Sunday evening, but by the next morning, when the nurses went to check on the child, they couldn’t find the baby,” the source said.
Another eyewitness described the atmosphere as tense, stating that the incident left the baby’s mother, hospital staff, and nearby traders in shock.
“The whole place was in chaos. No one could understand how the baby disappeared,” the witness added.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ekiti State, Sunday Abutu, said the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a full-scale investigation.
Abutu said, “The CP has ordered a thorough probe and mandated the SCID to ensure the baby is recovered as quickly as possible.
“So far, four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. They are currently providing useful information that will support the investigation.”
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to locate the missing baby and bring all those involved to justice.
