Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a stern warning to political appointees and public officials in his government, urging them to maintain the highest standards of integrity or willingly resign from their positions.

This came on the heels of the resignation of the state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi Dala, who stepped down after reportedly helping to secure bail for an individual facing drug-related charges.

During the 30th Executive Council meeting held at the Government House on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf made it clear that his administration would not tolerate any act whether official or personal that could bring disrepute to the government or contradict its stance on accountability and discipline.

A statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Tofa, quoted the governor as saying, “Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct official or private that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration.”

He emphasized that the recent incident should serve as a lesson to all public officeholders and civil servants, urging anyone unwilling to align with the administration’s ethical standards to voluntarily exit.

“If anyone among you feels he can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon him, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in misconduct that could tarnish the image of this administration,” the governor warned.

Reaffirming his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse and related offences, particularly among the youth, Yusuf said the fight against social vices remains a top priority.

“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised,” he said.
