Speaking on Wednesday during a campaign for the forthcoming by-election in Esan Central, Okpebholo asserted that Nigeria’s slower pace of development compared to the United States was due to the absence of a leader like Tinubu in past administrations.

“If Nigeria had two presidents like President Tinubu, the country would be like America,” he said, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s policies. He specifically cited the recently signed tax reform bills, which he said have helped address economic challenges and boost fiscal stability.

Okpebholo, who assumed office in November 2024, has consistently aligned himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, rallying support for the party in Edo State. He maintained that the pledged votes in 2027 would be delivered “by the grace of God,” signaling strong political backing for Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle.
