JAMB Temporarily Closes WASSCE Result Upload Portal to Resolve Technical Glitches

JAMB has halted WASSCE result uploads to fix technical glitches affecting earlier submissions.

The board assured candidates they will be contacted once the portal is ready.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily shut its portal for uploading the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results to address technical issues affecting candidates who had earlier submitted the scores initially released.

In a statement posted on X, JAMB explained that the closure is intended to rectify problems linked to previously uploaded results and ensure accuracy in the admissions database. The board assured affected candidates that they will be notified once the portal is ready for re-upload.

“Please be patient while our technical crew works on the portal. You will be contacted shortly to upload your result,” the statement read.

The shutdown affects prospective students for the 2024/2025 academic session, many of whom are required to provide their WASSCE results as part of the admission process.

The move follows similar actions by other examination bodies in recent weeks. On August 6, WAEC suspended access to its result checker portal after detecting technical bugs in key subjects, while NECO temporarily closed its platforms for maintenance following repeated downtimes that disrupted result checks, registrations, and verification services.

Despite the disruption, JAMB has released encouraging performance data for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing it as the best since the introduction of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) in 2013.

This year, 17,025 candidates (0.88%) scored 300 and above, more than double last year’s figure of 8,401 (0.46%) and over three times the 5,318 (0.35%) recorded in 2023. Similarly, 117,373 candidates (6.08%) scored at least 250, compared to 77,070 (4.18%) in 2024 and 56,736 (3.73%) in 2023.

For scores of 200 and above, 565,988 candidates (29.3%) achieved the benchmark, marking a sharp rise from 439,961 (24%) last year and 355,689 (23.36%) in 2023.

Education stakeholders have fixed the 2025/2026 admission cut-off scores at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education, and 140 for nursing colleges.
