Two Motorcyclists Arraigned in Ondo for Alleged R@pe of Teenage Girl

Two commercial motorcyclists have been arraigned in Akure for allegedly r@ping a 17-year-old girl.

The court ordered their remand at Olokuta facility pending a ruling on their bail application.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arraigned two commercial motorcyclists, Tope Ademeso and Igbekele Akinsioye, before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over the alleged r@pe of a 17-year-old girl.

The duo, both residents of Continental Street in Akure, were charged with conspiracy and r@pe. According to the prosecuting counsel, O.F. Akeredolu, the offence occurred on August 6, 2025, around 10 p.m., at their residence in Akure.

The charge sheet alleged that the men conspired to unlawfully have sexual intercourse with the teenager, contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006. It further stated that they intentionally penetrated the victim, an offence under the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021.

Due to the gravity of the allegations, the court declined to take their pleas. Akeredolu urged the court to remand the defendants pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

However, defense counsel, Godwin Bernard, argued that his clients were innocent, claiming the case arose from a dispute over payment following consensual intercourse. He requested that the court deny the prosecution’s remand request and instead grant bail under lenient terms.

Presiding Magistrate Damilola Sekoni adjourned the case to September 1 for ruling on the bail application and ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Facility in the meantime.
