U.S. Visa Applicants Now Required to List All Social Media Usernames Used in Last Five Years

The United States has warned Nigerian visa applicants to disclose all social media accounts.

Failure to provide usernames from the past five years could result in automatic visa denial.

The United States has cautioned Nigerians seeking visas that failure to disclose their social media activity could result in denial of entry.

In a notice shared on its official X handle, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria said applicants completing the DS-160 non-immigrant visa form must provide all usernames or handles they have used on social media platforms within the past five years.

The statement explained that every applicant is required to certify the accuracy of the information submitted before signing and completing the form. “Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas,” the notice read.
