The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security Command following their involvement in the violent assault and public humiliation of a corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor.

The officials, who were implicated in the July 23, 2025 incident, have been handed over to the police for prosecution.
Announcing the decision at the agency’s headquarters in Awka, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, said the action was taken immediately after it was confirmed that the operatives attacked corps members while chasing suspected cultists. He described the act as “a gross violation of the agency’s mandate and an abuse of authority.”
Emeakayi emphasized that Governor Soludo’s administration has zero tolerance for misconduct, brutality, or misuse of power by any security personnel, stressing that officers found guilty of such actions would not only be dismissed but also face legal consequences.
He noted that although relatives of the victim and officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) appealed to minimize the matter to avoid damaging the reputation of those involved, the state government insisted on a thorough investigation and due process to ensure justice and deter future misconduct.
According to him, the state has already taken responsibility by offsetting the victim’s medical expenses, replacing destroyed valuables including her phone and laptop, and issuing a public apology to her family, the NYSC, and the general public.
Emeakayi further stated that the administration is using the incident as a turning point to instill discipline and reinforce professionalism within the Agunechemba outfit. He assured that ongoing reforms in community security will focus on accountability, respect for human rights, and rebuilding public trust in local security operations.
