President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new management team for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the country’s leading public broadcaster.
According to an announcement on the Presidency’s official X account, the President has appointed Rotimi Richard Pedro from Lagos State (South-West) as the new Director-General of NTA. Karimah Bello from Katsina State (North-West) has been named the Executive Director of Marketing, while Stella Din from Plateau State (North-Central) will serve as the Executive Director of News. Additionally, Sophia Issa Mohammed from Adamawa State (North-East) has been appointed as the Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited.
These appointments take immediate effect and are expected to mark a new phase of leadership for the state-owned broadcaster.
Established in 1977, NTA is the largest television network in Africa, with stations across the country. However, in recent years, the organization has faced criticism due to declining viewership, increased competition from private broadcasters, and challenges in adapting to modern digital broadcasting trends.
