AY has denied rumors of reconciling with his estranged wife, Mabel, calling the reports false and insensitive.
The comedian warned against defamatory stories and vowed legal action against those spreading them.
Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has dismissed claims that he is trying to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page, AY described the reports as “false, incessant, and insensitive,” accusing rumor peddlers of deliberately spreading manipulative stories to mislead the public and drive traffic. He stressed that he has never issued or authorized any such statement, adding that if he needed to address personal matters, he had the platform, reach, and credibility to do so himself rather than through “faceless blogs and rumor-driven platforms.”
Issuing what he called a final warning, the comedian urged the public to ignore the claims and revealed plans to take legal steps against individuals or outlets that continue to publish defamatory reports about his private life.
“Enough of the lies,” AY stated, making it clear that he would no longer condone the circulation of falsehoods regarding his marriage.
It will be recalled that in 2023, AY confirmed the end of his nearly 20-year relationship with Mabel, admitting regret over losing his home and acknowledging that he had made compromises during the marriage.
