Benue Assembly Suspends Four Lawmakers Over Alleged Impeachment Plot
The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for six months over an alleged plot to impeach Speaker Aondona Dajoh.
The decision has stirred political tension and raised concerns about divisions in the Assembly.
The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four of its members for six months over allegations of plotting to remove the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.

The lawmakers affected are Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Terna Shimawua (Kian Constituency), Cyril Ekong (Obi Constituency), and James Umoru (Apa Constituency)
Following their suspension, the Assembly announced key leadership changes. Kennedy Angbo was appointed Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya was named Deputy Chief Whip, while Elias Audu replaced Berger as the new spokesman of the House.
During Friday’s plenary, the lawmakers also commenced screening of five commissioner nominees. However, two nominees Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza are expected to be screened at a later date.
