Deji Adeyanju Labels Some Tinubu Cabinet Members as “Ghost Ministers”

Deji Adeyanju has criticized four of Tinubu’s ministers for being “ghost ministers” due to low visibility.

He listed Bagudu, Lawal, Tuggar, and Nnaji, urging them to engage Nigerians more actively in office.

Human rights activist and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has stirred debate over the visibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet members, describing some of them as “ghost ministers.”

In a statement titled “The Ghost Ministers of Tinubu”, Adeyanju highlighted four ministers whom he accused of maintaining an unusually low profile since assuming office. They are:

  • Abubakar Atiku Bagudu – Minister of Budget and Economic Planning
  • Balarabe Abbas Lawal – Minister of Environment
  • Yusuf Maitama Tuggar – Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Uche Nnaji – Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology

Adeyanju questioned whether Nigerians were even aware that these individuals currently occupy ministerial positions, arguing that their lack of visibility contrasts with the crucial responsibilities of their ministries in shaping national development.

His remarks quickly caused reactions online, with many Nigerians admitting they were unaware of the ministers’ identities or public engagements since their appointments.

Analysts also note that while certain ministers, including Wale Edun (Finance), Festus Keyamo (Aviation), and Nyesom Wike (Federal Capital Territory), have maintained a consistent public presence through announcements and policy updates, others have remained largely absent from national conversations.
