Colombian Vice President Arrives Abuja for Three-Day Visit

Colombia’s Vice President Francia Márquez has arrived in Abuja for a three-day official visit.

Her trip focuses on strengthening Nigeria–Colombia ties across trade, energy, education, governance, and security sectors.

Colombia’s Vice President, Her Excellency Francia Márquez, touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday for a three-day official engagement with Nigeria.

The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key sectors such as governance, agriculture, energy, education, security, and trade. Both countries are expected to explore new opportunities for strategic partnership during her stay.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, confirmed the visit in a message shared on his official X handle, noting that it would run from August 30 to September 2, 2025.

According to Shettima, the visit marks an important step in Nigeria’s efforts to build stronger diplomatic and economic ties with Colombia. He said the engagement would pave the way for deeper collaboration in areas including culture, women’s empowerment, education, energy, and commerce.

He described the event as “a historic opportunity that will open a fresh chapter in South-South cooperation and help both nations chart a path toward shared growth and prosperity.”
