Favour Ofili Leaves Nigeria to Compete Internationally for Turkey
Favour Ofili has switched allegiance to Turkey, beginning a new chapter in her career.
The 22-year-old will be eligible to represent Turkey internationally from 2027.
Nigerian track star Favour Ofili has officially changed her international allegiance from Nigeria to Turkey, marking a major shift in her athletic career.

The 22-year-old sprinter announced the decision in a statement shared on her social media handles, reflecting on the turning point in her journey.
“Wrapping up my 2025 season has been a whirlwind of new experiences and big decisions. As some of you have heard, I’m also starting a new chapter representing Turkey,” she wrote.
Ofili’s switch comes after years of reported frustration over alleged administrative shortcomings by the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), which many observers believe influenced her decision to seek better opportunities abroad.
With her transfer completed, Ofili is expected to be eligible to represent Turkey in international competitions starting from 2027, in line with World Athletics’ eligibility rules on switching national representation.
The sprinter, who has been one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents on the global stage, leaves behind a decorated career in Nigerian colors and now looks ahead to a new phase under the Turkish flag.
