The mobilization, described as one of the largest in recent years, will involve personnel drawn from state commands, zonal formations, and specialized tactical units to guarantee safety before, during, and after the polls.

A wireless communication issued by the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja, confirmed the directive from the Inspector-General of Police. The signal, classified as “very important,” ordered all commissioners of police and unit heads to immediately mobilize officers and submit verified personnel details, including salary accounts, by September 19, 2025. It warned that any errors leading to unpaid allowances would be the responsibility of the concerned formations.

According to the deployment plan, contributions will come from Force Headquarters departments, state commands, and tactical squads nationwide. Lagos and Rivers States are expected to release about 1,500 personnel each, while the Federal Capital Territory and Ogun will also provide sizeable contingents.

Specialized squads will play a central role in the operation. The Police Mobile Force will contribute over 4,000 officers, making it the single largest component of the deployment. Reinforcements will also include operatives from the Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Special Intelligence Squad, Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, Marine Police, the K9 Section, and the Airwing.
