The victim was freed without ransom following a swift operation involving security agencies and local vigilantes.
The Oyo State Police Command has secured the release of an Egyptian national just one day after he was abducted in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.

Confirming the development in a statement on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, said the victim was freed without any ransom being paid.
According to the statement, the abduction occurred on Monday morning in Alomaja, Idi-Ayunre. A rescue team, operating under the directives of Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, immediately launched a coordinated operation.
The effort brought together officers from 4 PMF Ibadan, operatives of the Intelligence and Tactical Units, local vigilantes, and the Ogun State Police Command. After an extensive search across forests and border communities linking Ogun and Oyo States, the team successfully tracked and rescued the victim.
Police authorities said the victim is receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Eleyele before being reunited with his family.
The command described the success as proof of effective intelligence sharing, swift response, and inter-agency cooperation. It also urged residents to remain security-conscious and promptly report suspicious activities through the available emergency lines.
“The safety of residents remains our top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to keep Oyo State peaceful,” the command assured.
