The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the arrests followed directives from the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

Haruna identified the suspects as Ismail Imran (20), Abdulaziz Yahaya (31), and Musa Ibrahim Isah (29), all residents of Rigasa Quarters in Kaduna State. They were apprehended on September 6, 2025, in collaboration with local vigilante groups.

During the operation, officers recovered a 2014 Toyota Corolla S (blue, registration number KWL-78 DN) with a broken windscreen. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been stolen during an armed robbery in Durumi, Abuja, at about 2:00 am on September 5, 2025.

“The vehicle’s owner confirmed that the suspects attacked his family, critically injured one victim, and fled with the vehicle,” Haruna stated.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori praised the operatives for their swift action, saying the arrest reflected the effectiveness of community-centered policing promoted by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

“The suspects are currently assisting investigators to unravel the full extent of their criminal activities,” Bakori said, assuring the public of ongoing efforts to secure lives and property in the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The arrests add to recent policing successes in Kano. Earlier this month, the Command reported the arrest of 107 suspects in August for crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, vehicle theft, and human trafficking.

Those detained included eight armed robbers, eight kidnappers, three human trafficking suspects, and 14 suspected drug dealers.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain security operations across the state, stressing that collaborative efforts with communities and vigilante groups remain vital to tackling crime.
