Christian Eriksen has signed for Wolfsburg on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United.

The Danish playmaker says the Bundesliga move marks a fresh chapter and exciting new challenge in his career.

Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen has joined German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on a free transfer, the club confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 33-year-old has signed a contract running until 2027 after leaving Manchester United in the summer.

Eriksen expressed excitement at the move, calling it a fresh opportunity at this stage of his career.

“I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I’m convinced that together we can make a difference in Wolfsburg,” he said in a club statement.

The former Ajax, Tottenham, and Inter Milan midfielder has completed a remarkable career journey since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2021 match against Finland. Fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), Eriksen was barred from continuing in Serie A due to Italian medical regulations, forcing his exit from Inter Milan.

He revived his career with an impressive six-month stint at Brentford before joining Manchester United in 2022. While he initially impressed at Old Trafford, he gradually slipped down the pecking order, first under Erik ten Hag and later under Ruben Amorim, eventually leaving when his contract expired last season.

Eriksen remains one of Denmark’s most decorated players, with 144 international caps and 46 goals to his name.

At Wolfsburg, he will join a strong Danish contingent that already includes Joakim Maehle, Jesper Lindstrom, Andreas Skov Olsen, Jonas Wind, and Adam Daghim. He becomes the sixth Dane in the squad, adding both experience and creativity to the team’s midfield.

The move offers Eriksen another chance to compete at the top level in Europe, extending a career defined by resilience, technical brilliance, and remarkable comebacks.
