Bauchi Civil Service Commission Sacks Senior Officer Over Sexual Harassment
Bauchi State Civil Service Commission dismissed a senior education officer for sexual harassment misconduct.
The Commission also approved promotions for directors, planning officers and eighty nursing staff across various grades.
The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed Mr. Emos Joshua, a Principal Assistant Education Officer at Government College, Azare, after finding him guilty of sexual harassment.
According to the Commission, the offence amounted to gross misconduct and contravened provisions of Rules 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Rules.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Commission spokesperson Saleh Umar said the decision was taken during the 32nd plenary session held on September 11, 2025.
Umar explained that the action followed full disciplinary proceedings as outlined under Rules 0317 of the Public Service Rules and Regulations.
He also announced several other personnel changes. Two Deputy Directors were promoted in acting capacity to full Directors of Physical Planning and Development Control on Grade Level 16. Likewise, a Chief Physical Planning Officer was elevated to acting Deputy Director on Grade Level 15.
In addition, 80 Nursing Officers and Nursing Superintendents received promotions to higher grades ranging from Levels 10 to 14.
Umar said the decisions were based on recommendations from the Bauchi State Special School Management Board, the State Public Procurement and Physical Development Board, and the Health Management Board.
Commission Chairman Ibrahim Muhammad confirmed that due process was observed throughout the disciplinary and promotion exercises.
He stressed that the dismissal was not vindictive but necessary to uphold discipline and integrity within the state’s civil service, adding that the action should serve as a reminder to all employees that professional conduct and adherence to the rules are essential for an effective public service.
