Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially begun her bid to set a new Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The award-winning cook, who shot to international fame in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, is aiming to prepare around 250 bags of rice for the feat.

The ambitious attempt was launched at Eko Hotels, Lagos, before a lively crowd of fans and supporters. Originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, the event was moved to the hotel venue due to overwhelming interest, with over 20,000 people registering to attend.
Before the cooking began, Hilda and her mother shared an emotional moment of prayer, asking for divine strength, protection, and endurance throughout the challenge. Spectators erupted into cheers, acknowledging her mother as a key pillar of Hilda’s journey.
Sharing updates online, Hilda posted: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
