Hilda Baci Draws Over 20,000 Fans to Giant Jollof Rice Feast in Lagos

Hilda Baci turned Lagos into a food festival on Friday night when she cooked a giant pot of jollof rice at Eko Hotels and Suites. Thousands of fans, celebrities, and supporters came out to watch the record-breaking moment.

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci, famous for her 2023 cooking marathon, attempted to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice using 250 bags of Basmati rice. The huge pot almost tipped over while workers tried to weigh it, but her team quickly steadied it, sparking gasps and cheers from the crowd.
The cooking event had plenty of famous faces and supporters. Pastor Bolaji Idowu, content creator Enioluwa Adeoluwa, food critic Opeyemi Fagbohungbe, designer Veekee James, actress Funke Akindele, entertainer Peller, representatives from the Akwa Ibom State government, Hilda’s proud mother and many others came to cheer her on.
Hilda became emotional when Pastor Bolaji prayed for her success. Her mother also joined her for a moment of prayer, which drew cheers and applause from the crowd.
The event was originally planned for Muri Okunola Park but moved to Eko Hotels because so many people registered, more than 20,000 in total.
Videos from the night showed fans dancing, singing, and taking selfies while waiting for the giant pot of jollof rice to finish cooking.
By the end of the night, the food was ready and served, turning the cook-off into a fun party full of music, food, and excitement.
