Ondo Governor Orders Probe Into Fake Teachers Appointment Letters
Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ordered a probe into fake teacher appointment letters uncovered during recruitment.
He vowed transparency, discipline and punishment for officials linked to the fraud scheme.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered an investigation into the circulation of fake appointment letters issued to unsuspecting applicants during the state’s ongoing recruitment of teachers.

On Friday, aggrieved applicants stormed the Governor’s Office in Akure to protest after being denied participation in the recruitment process despite holding what they believed to be official letters of employment.
The Ondo State Government had recently launched the recruitment of 2,000 teachers across its 18 local government areas. However, it was discovered that some applicants were issued fake appointment and posting letters by individuals allegedly working with insiders at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa clarified that the protesters were victims of fraud, not successful candidates.
“Those who protested were not teachers but applicants defrauded by scammers who issued fake employment and posting letters during the recruitment exercise, after collecting money from them,” the statement read.
The fraudulent letters were uncovered during a biometric verification process, where affected applicants were informed that their documents were invalid.
According to the statement, three SUBEB officials suspected of colluding with external fraudsters have already faced disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed SUBEB to invite the victims for a meeting and constituted a committee to investigate the matter further.
The government confirmed that over 2,000 duly employed teachers have already resumed duties in primary and secondary schools across the state, ensuring the recruitment drive continues despite the setback.
