The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a fresh weather outlook warning of moderate rainfall, isolated thunderstorms and possible flash floods across several parts of the country over the next three days.

According to the forecast released in Abuja on Sunday, thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected on Monday morning in Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa and Taraba states. Similar weather conditions are predicted for the afternoon and evening across much of the North, with flash floods likely in Adamawa, Taraba and Gombe.

In the central region, NiMet expects a cloudy start with sunny intervals and moderate showers over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory and Benue on Monday morning. Thunderstorms with moderate rain are forecast later in the day.

Cloudy skies are predicted across the South on Monday morning, with moderate rain likely in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Rain is expected to intensify across most southern states later in the day.

On Tuesday, NiMet projects a mix of sunshine and clouds over the North, with isolated thunderstorms in Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Adamawa. By afternoon and evening, heavier showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi and Taraba. The central region will also see moderate rains in the morning over Kogi, Niger, the FCT, Kwara and Nasarawa, followed by thunderstorms later in Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Benue and the FCT. In the South, light to moderate rains are expected from morning into evening across Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi and Delta.

On Wednesday, NiMet anticipates cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine across the North, with slim chances of light rain over Sokoto and Zamfara in the morning and isolated thunderstorms later over Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto. The central region will start with light rains over the FCT, Kogi, Kwara and Niger before heavier thunderstorms later in Benue, Kwara, Kogi and Niger. The southern region will also experience cloudy skies, with moderate rain forecast for the afternoon and evening.

NiMet urged motorists to exercise caution during heavy rainfall, farmers to avoid fertilizer or pesticide application immediately before rain, and residents to secure loose items, unplug appliances and avoid tall trees during storms. Airline operators were advised to obtain location-specific weather reports to plan flights safely.

The agency encouraged the public to follow updates via its website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
