PDP Demands Tinubu Apologize For Suspension Of Fubara
PDP asks President Tinubu to apologize for suspending Rivers Governor Fubara and declaring emergency rule.
The party says lifting the suspension does not erase the constitutional breach or political damage caused.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to tender a formal apology over the suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminilayi Fubara and the declaration of emergency rule in the state earlier this year.

The PDP’s Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, made the call in Abuja on Wednesday, stressing that Tinubu’s action represented an overreach of presidential powers and violated the principle of separation of powers enshrined in the constitution.
“Yes, I think the President is overreaching when I read the last paragraph of his speech, where he spoke to governors as if he were a headmaster in a classroom. He should apologize. I felt he should understand fully well that there is a clear division of powers,” Osadolor said.
Tinubu had in March controversially declared emergency rule in Rivers State, suspending Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and the State House of Assembly for six months.
He argued the decision was necessary to avert a breakdown of law and order in the oil-rich state. However, the move drew criticism from constitutional lawyers and opposition figures who described it as illegal and undemocratic.
On Wednesday, the president lifted the suspension, reinstating the elected state officials. However, according to the PDP, the reversal does not erase the constitutional breach or the political damage caused.
