A Katsina-based businessman, Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter have been freed three weeks after they were abducted from their home.

The family regained their freedom on Wednesday night, September 17, after spending 21 days in captivity. According to a relative who spoke under anonymity, a ransom of ₦50 million was paid to secure their release. The source said the family was already on their way home but declined to reveal the location where they were picked up for security reasons.
Ahmadu, his wife and child were kidnapped on August 26, 2025, at their residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina metropolis. Initially, the abductors demanded ₦600 million, later slashing the figure to ₦100 million on September 3 before finally agreeing to ₦50 million.
The release of the family has been welcomed by residents who had closely followed the case and called for their safe return.
