Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has returned to Port Harcourt, the state capital, a few days after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule in the state. He arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport around 11:50 a.m. on Friday, marking his first visit to the city since his reinstatement. Supporters, holding banners and singing, filled the VIP wing of the airport to welcome him back after months of political tension.

Many residents saw Fubara’s arrival as an important sign that things are beginning to settle after a long period of uncertainty in the oil-rich state.
