Kano Police arrest two men wanted for armed robbery and attempted murder in Lagos.

The suspects were handed over to Lagos Command as investigations and prosecution continue.

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men suspected of involvement in an armed robbery and attempted murder case in Lagos.

Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna announced the arrests in a statement on Saturday, describing them as the result of effective intelligence gathering and cooperation from local communities. According to him, tactical teams acting on reliable tips picked up the suspects on September 11 at Na’ibawa Quarters in Kano. They were identified as 25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters.

Investigators said Adewole allegedly confessed to attacking a Lagos resident, identified as Lil-Kesh, in Bera Estate, Chevron, on August 19. The assault reportedly caused serious injuries, including a deep wound to the victim’s neck, and the attackers are accused of forcing a transfer of more than ₦2 million to an account linked to Muhammad.

Haruna noted that the operation followed directives from Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, who has prioritized intelligence-led policing and stronger community collaboration to curb crime.

The two suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for continued investigation and possible prosecution. Kano State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori commended the officers for their efforts and thanked residents for sharing information. He assured the public that the command remains committed to working with security agencies and community leaders to maintain peace and order.
