Donald Trump Claims London Mayor, Sadiq Khan Is Seeking to Implement Sharia Law
Donald Trump ignites uproar at the UN General Assembly with attacks on London’s mayor and unverified claims.
He warns Europe about immigration and energy policies, drawing sharp criticism from global leaders and experts.
U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday with remarks targeting London’s mayor and a widely debunked claim about Islamic law in the UK capital.

In a lengthy speech focused on immigration and what he described as Europe’s decline, Trump repeatedly criticized London’s leadership, branding the city’s mayor “terrible” several times. He alleged, without evidence, that London was moving toward Sharia law a claim long discredited by experts.
Trump argued that Europe is being overwhelmed by illegal immigration, saying the continent faces an “invasion” unprecedented in scale. He added that Europe’s “dangerous” energy policies and lax borders would “bring about the destruction of Western Europe” unless drastic action was taken.
The president also accused the UN of bankrolling migration that undermines Western countries, alleging the organization was “supporting an assault on national borders.” He insisted Europe was in “serious trouble” and warned that its current policies could not continue.
Returning to his attack on London, Trump reiterated his unfounded claim that the city was changing under the mayor’s watch. “It’s been transformed under terrible leadership,” he said, adding, “they want to bring in Sharia law, but that can’t happen here.”
