Ajayi Crowther University Appoints First Female Vice-Chancellor
Ajayi Crowther University has appointed Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole as its first female Vice-Chancellor.
She succeeds Prof. Timothy Adebayo, whose leadership guided the university through notable growth and challenges.
Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has announced the appointment of Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole as its new Vice-Chancellor, making her the first female VC in the institution’s history.

The announcement was made by the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, following a council meeting held on Wednesday.
Prof. Oduwole succeeds Prof. Timothy Adebayo, whose five-year tenure ends this month. Adebayo was praised as a distinguished administrator whose leadership guided the university through challenging economic times, ensuring consistent growth.
Okeowo commended Adebayo’s achievements, highlighting “tremendous growth” between 2020 and 2025, despite Nigeria’s economic challenges.
“Most institutions without strong leadership would not have withstood the storm of the past five years, but Prof. Adebayo ensured steady yearly growth. On behalf of Anglicans in the Supra West, I say thank you,” Okeowo said.
The Pro-Chancellor also recognized the contributions of the university’s management and staff, describing their teamwork as the foundation of Adebayo’s success.
Introducing the incoming VC, Okeowo described Prof. Oduwole’s appointment as historic and urged staff to give her full cooperation and prayers.
“She is making history as the first female Vice-Chancellor of this University. I am sure you will support her to excel in all ramifications,” he said.
Archbishop of Ibadan Province, The Most Rev’d Williams Aladekugbe, who also sits on the governing council, described Adebayo’s appointment five years ago as “a blessing” that led to remarkable achievements in academics and infrastructure.
