In a recently shared video, the former YBNL signee explained how public perception shapes the way artists are treated. He said that being humble as an artist does not always bring respect and may even backfire in an industry that values glamour and mystery over openness.

“As an artist, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible, then they like you more. It’s like that. So people would rather see what you are than show them oh I’m doing this, I’m doing that. They don’t really appreciate it, do what you need to do and just go,” he said.

Asake added that fans are often more drawn to the idea of remoteness than relatability. He believes artists should focus on their craft rather than constantly seeking approval or trying to prove themselves, letting their work speak for itself.
