A statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima is on his way to Germany for strategic talks with officials of Deutsche Bank.

According to Nkwocha, the Vice President used the UNGA sessions to present Nigeria’s energy transition plan worth about $200 billion to international investors and to deepen trade and defence partnerships with the United Kingdom.

He added that Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national address, which called for reforms at the UN and a permanent seat for Nigeria on the Security Council. The Vice President also held talks on Africa’s mineral resources, digital inclusion, and met with the Gates Foundation on healthcare and education initiatives.

Nkwocha noted that UN Secretary-General António Guterres commended Nigeria’s push for Security Council reform and that Shettima promoted the African Continental Free Trade Area as a $3.4 trillion market with Nigeria at its center.

Shettima was seen off at John F. Kennedy International Airport by cabinet ministers who were part of Nigeria’s UNGA delegation and officials from the country’s mission in the United States.

The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria immediately after his engagements in Germany.
