Victoria Inyama has opened up about rebuilding her life after years of marital abuse.
She credits therapy, forgiveness and self-growth for healing while urging awareness of domestic violence.
Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has shared how she rebuilt her life after enduring years of marital abuse.

In an interview with Saturday Punch, she explained that gaining psychological insight into her trauma, along with practicing forgiveness, gratitude and letting go, helped her heal and move forward.
Inyama also highlighted the widespread problem of domestic violence in Nigeria, saying it is often overlooked or normalized by society. She noted that abuse can sometimes be excused when the perpetrator is wealthy or influential, and stressed that women can also be abusers, challenging the usual narrative.
Speaking about her own past, Inyama disclosed that she did not leave her toxic marriage voluntarily but was instead removed from the relationship by the police. She urged women trying to rebuild their lives after abuse to focus on healing and self-improvement.
She said stress from past trauma can harm both mental and physical health, encouraging survivors to release pain, grow personally and make the most of the future ahead.
Victoria Inyama has three children with her ex-husband, Godwin Okri. In 2019, after a lengthy legal battle, she obtained full custody of them. In a 2023 interview, she revealed that although she had initially sought shared custody, the judge awarded her sole custody due to her ex-husband’s conduct and the children’s preference to live with her. She has since described her children as her “diamonds born out of the fire” she endured during her marriage.
