In a post on his social media page on Monday, the governor described the championship as a milestone for Lagos and the continent, saying it highlights the city’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and international recognition.

“The E1 Lagos Grand Prix is a demonstration of innovation and progress, showing how sport can inspire sustainable solutions for the future. It is also a celebration of the creativity and resilience that define our people,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He added that the championship would showcase Lagos as a welcoming and vibrant city ready to embrace the future with confidence. The governor urged the public to get tickets through www.e1lagos.com, noting that the event will put both Lagos and Africa in the global spotlight.

Organizers of the race said the E1 Grand Prix will bring the fastest electric powerboats in the world to Lagos waters. With this, Lagos joins other host destinations such as Monaco, Venice and Jeddah while also presenting itself as Africa’s leading aquatic city.
