Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that officials from these agencies claimed to already have a list of political figures suspected of offering support to criminal networks.

The officials added that several people accused of supplying weapons to the gangs have been arrested, with investigations currently ongoing to trace the full extent of their activities.

According to the agencies, this initiative is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at dismantling cross-border criminal organizations responsible for worsening insecurity in West Africa.

The disclosure also reflects deepening security cooperation among Sahelian nations, which have been stepping up joint efforts to combat armed groups and disrupt illegal arms trafficking across their shared borders.
