Lola Idije Opens Up on Struggles of Single Parenting
Actress Lola Idije has opened up about her struggles as a single parent, calling it a journey of constant challenges.
She urged women to persevere, warning against misplaced trust in relationships.
Veteran Yoruba actress Lola Idije has shared her experience as a single parent, describing the journey as one filled with constant challenges and heavy responsibilities.

Speaking in a recent interview with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, Lola Idije explained in Yoruba that raising children alone is far from easy. She noted that a single parent must shoulder everything, from paying school fees to providing daily upkeep, often without reliable support from others.
According to her, even when relatives or friends promise to help, the support rarely comes through, leaving the parent to carry the burden alone.
She also spoke bluntly about relationships, saying many men are not serious. Some, she claimed, approach women only because they have placed bets with their friends.
Lola Idije further criticized the way actresses are often perceived, revealing that some men believe they can win over women in the industry with as little as ₦500,000. She warned women to be cautious, stressing, “Trust no one.”
She added that it is painful to see people who can afford to support single parents choosing instead to spend lavishly on themselves. Still, she praised women who continue to persevere despite the hardships, saying many keep pushing forward for the sake of their children.
