Cardi B Makes History as First Female Rapper to Debut Two Albums at No. 1 on Billboard 200
Cardi B has shattered records again, becoming the first female rapper with both debut albums hitting No. 1.
Her latest release ‘Am I The Drama?’ scored the year’s biggest opening for a woman.
American rapper Cardi B has set a new record by becoming the first female rapper whose first two studio albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Her latest release, “Am I The Drama?”, opened with 200,000 equivalent album units in its first week, Billboard announced on Instagram. “Cardi B scores her second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as “Am I The Drama?” debuts atop the tally,” the post read, noting that the project delivered “2025’s biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman.”
The achievement mirrors the success of her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy”, which also launched at No. 1 in 2018. Industry reports show that the strong performance of “Am I The Drama?” was powered by massive streaming numbers along with high physical sales, boosted by multiple CD and vinyl editions. The album now holds the biggest opening week of 2025 for a female hip-hop or R&B artist.
Adding to her historic week, Cardi B also broke a Guinness World Record by delivering 176 signed copies of her album via drone across the Dallas–Fort Worth area in just one hour.
As fans celebrate her continued dominance, it also recalls Cardi B’s remarks during her Call Her Daddy interview, where she addressed long-standing comparisons with Nicki Minaj. She clarified that her rise had nothing to do with competing with another female rapper:
“People have created this narrative that I entered the industry to take over someone’s career. I never thought about that. I just wanted to get famous and do what I love… This is what I was destined for. I’m going to be a rapper because this is what I’ve invested my time and money in.”
