Residents Arrest Two Suspected POS Fraudsters in Makurdi

Residents in Makurdi have caught two suspected fraudsters accused of using fake alerts to dupe POS operators.

Both suspects were handed to police as communities intensify efforts against rising financial scams.

Two suspected Point of Sale (POS) fraudsters have been apprehended by residents of Gyado Villa, opposite Peniel College, in Makurdi, Benue State. The incident occurred on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Eyewitnesses said one of the suspects attempted to trick a POS operator by presenting fake transaction alerts. Community members, who quickly noticed the fraudulent activity, intervened and handed the suspect over to the police for investigation.

In a related case, another individual accused of defrauding POS agents was caught in Makurdi over the weekend. According to social media commentator Zege Okwande, the suspect had allegedly been deceiving operators using false payment notifications.
